They don't call it the Big Easy for nothing. It's the one
city in which everyone in the hostel slept until noon (the
earlybirds, anyway), instead of getting up at dawn to see
every attraction in town.
I met a handful of fun people from all over the world at
the youth hostel. We partied all night, slept all day, and
sat around the courtyard in dark glasses nursing our hangovers
until dusk.
One of the most unique traits of New Orleans, besides the
dominent French influence, was that cemetaries are tourist
attractions. It was the only place I'd planned to visit
a cemetary. Instead, I visited a cemetary or grave in every
city but Austin.
